Sharon Elaine Jackson
Sharon graduated from Gifford High School (GHS) in 1967 and after receiving her business certification in 1968, she fulfilled her ambition by serving as Secretary for the Economic Opportunity Council (EOC) of Indian River County (IRC). During her tenure at EOC she attended Indian River Community College and received an Associate of Arts Degree. No longer satisfied with her career as a secretary, Sharon relocated to Miami Florida in 1977 and began a new career as a Pharmaceutical Assistant for the Veterans Administration (VA) Hospital and later received her Pharmaceutical Certification for Chemo in 1997. Sharon's loyalty to family was always first and foremost and after more than twenty years with the VA, she retired and returned home to IRC to care for her parents. In 2007 we elected Sharon to serve as class treasurer for our 40th reunion and for the first time in forty (40) years class funds were reported with accountability and financial transparency. For the next nine (9) years, Sharon collected class dues, disbursed funds for class bereavements and maintained an account balance until health issues and the death of her father forced her to resign in 2016. Despite debilitating health issues, Sharon remained committed, actively supporting our 50th Reunion efforts until incapacitated by a near fatal automobile accident in December 2017. Driven by loyalty, Sharon recovered and returned to support our 2018 Incorporation and care for her mother until she passed in January 2019.
